I think I want to get my gsd x rottie an equafleece as it can be useful and waterproof for outside meaning I can take a dry dog in, or can be worn as a drying housecoat. Are there any better coats out there? I'm tempted to get a jumper with a zip down the back so that when he gets old and creaky I don't ave to worry about trying to shove his legs into sleeves.

Thoughts? With all this wet weather I'm sick of towel drying and doing dog washes, I've resorted to asking him wear one of my fleeces around the house when he's wet, lol :D

snuggy hoods have started doing doggy bodies,any1 tried one? (love the snuggy horse products)

It depends on the type of dog ,greyhound coats come in waterproofs, which could avoid the wet dog indoors syndrome, small dogs, the HottaDog have a good range.Depends on your needs

Ok, so I'm not really bothered about the dog then, just the time I have to spend drying him and getting soggy dog beds ;)

I'm really sorry, but that's being just a bit delicate. It rains, we take our dogs out, they get wet, and then they get dry, just as we do. When we have GSDs or Rotts, or a mixture, then they have coats. They need further protection? Honestly?

Alec.

i know nature has given my dog the best coat but there is not always time to dry my dog thoroughly before leaving for work.i have nowhere to shut him to dry because he has the run of the house.

Yes the bigger dog ones are disappointing, small heads ( retriever ) so cut a little but spaniel ones good!

Weatherbeeta are best in my opinion

Mine has masta ones, the weatherbeeta fleece Newmarket stripe one, a Rambo one that goes under the belly and a wetherbeeta one that goes under the belly too but it is hard and rubs his leg as its just too wide.
Have just ordered an equifleece one and depending how I like it I may get another for inside.
I have no problem with my dog getting wet, I'm not being soft but he wears a coat if he's going to be sat around in car / horse box and he wears the waterproof coat to try keep him clean and dry for my convenience as its a pita washing/drying the dog everytime he goes out and I have pale carpets and don't want wet dog and mud all over them

Errr she's not bothered about the dog getting wet.. she's bothered about her house getting covered in wet/mud when the dog comes back inside.

Cant help sorry Tinselface, Bax has a very, very short coat so doesn't drag mud indoors. I know a few people that swear by the equifleece though.

We have a out door coat and a drying fleece from a website called rollinhillz.co.uk.
He is a chap who goes to same gun dog training place as us- very practical, and fit very well.
Made to measure to so fit perfectly.

Look for 'bobbydogs' on Facebook, she'll make whatever type of 'coat' you like. The lurcher has a padded wax coat for cold wet days, the JRT has a thin wax coat for rainy days, and they both have a towelling coat for post bath/swim or when we get caught out in the rain, they're all fab, made to measure and economical too!! Mine have dogs for the protection of my house rather then keeping them warm (although both dogs are quite nesh!)

Thanks, I didn't quite get Alec's reply either, dog doesn't seem the slightest bit bothered about getting wet and filthy (although prob would if he was stood around at a horse comp etc). Him getting hot indoors is more of a prob than him getting cold, he's not a hearth hog.

I just want something to keep him and his undercarriage dry whilst out so when he comes back he doesn't need to spend ages being dried, or something to keep themud and filth separated from the soft furnishings when he's back in. ATM with the weather if I need to pop him in the garden or up the road for 5 mins before I go out he comes back filthy even if he's kept on a lead! Thanks may go with first thoughts and get the equafleece :)

equafleece all the way! their dog jumpers are fantastic - i always trim the front legs a little as mine likes her elbows to be free. fantastic to put on a wet dog to dry them and stop the house from getting filthy or to put on a dry dog to stop it getting wet in the first place.

if its just a raincoat you want - i've got the thermatex raincoat which is fab, and my parents who were worried about putting their very old and creaky lab in the equafleece got the original thermatex dog rug which is so easy to put on, keeps the rain off, dries a wet dog off, and makes her look like a little show pony!

I have an Equafleece jumper for the boys, I agree GSDs need NO protection from the elements (although I originally bought it to cover my older dog's baldy bits in the snow), but now my mother's house requires protection from the mudmonster and we have a pink carpet and white walls!!

Well my equafleece arrived already, very impressed with the service. Unfortunately despite taking measurements its just a little too small to get on and off so will try the next size up
