Hi

What do you recommend to put on feet to prevent mud fever / white lines disease which has been prevalent already this year due to the weather.

Farrier suggested I "tub" my horse's feet once a week with a strong anti bac.

I currently put pig oil on feathers and sudocream on feet, keratex on hoofs

(his morning routine living out is taking longer than the old stable routine when he came in haha but at least this is "with" him rather than "for" him)

Thanks.

Not quite sure what 'tub' means but for things like this we use hydrogen peroxide (also keratex do a hoof disinfectant we have used too but hydrogen peroxide is cheaper and has cleared up thrush my mare just had due to the muddy conditions).

Anything anti bacterial AND anti fungal that doesn't damage live tissue.

If you wouldn't gargle with it - then don't use it.

Diluted hydrogen peroxide,50% apple cider vinegar, iodine, Sudocrem, Red Horse products.......

Decent soaking solutions are Cleantrax or 50% apple cider vinegar.

I use coconut oil on mud fever on the legs.

WL disease is a symptom of an unhealthy hoof via diet and peripheral loading.

Treat with lotions and potions if you must - but growing a tighter WL will prevent it getting infected in the first place.
