I am thinking about changing from Aubiouse to Megazorb bedding. I quite like Aubiose as it makes a deep bed, which is supportive and firm. I tend to do a semi-deep litter - take droppings out every day and take wet out once a week.

What do you think of megazorb bedding? I have read that its supposed to be really absorbent. Do you think it would work on a semi-deep litter system, or would it get too soggy?

I am thinking of ordering about 40 bags ready for winter. Any thoughts would be appreciated. thank you.

I'll be watching this with interest. Mine's on Aubiose but is so wet I still have to take some wet out halfway through the week

I used megazorb last year and have just reordered. It is very absorbant and supposed to be better than auboise(sp).I had to keep my boy in on box rest so needed something a little deeper when he had surgery and opted for topping it with shavings and that worked really well. Great deep litter bed and only smells when you remove the wet patch. The block where we are are mostly on this and there is no smell .Cant recommend it highly enough.

Have you tried making the Aubiose bedding really deep, I find that if I have let it get a bit low the wet comes through more. Try chucking an extra two bales on the bed, it might make all the difference.

I use Megazorb and get on really well with it, its much cheaper than Aubiose and its really absorbant, it cakes together when wet so is easy to take out. I do a full muck out every day. but I don't have a very deep bed because I also have rubber mats. I use a bag a week so its quite cheap.

I had the same problem and then I started easibed, much better than aubiose but still a little wet but they are both large horses - one 16.2 and one 17.3!! would be very interested to know otherwise it will be rubber matting soon!!

It is pretty deep. I think the floor slopes to the front as this is where the wet is. It doesn't come through the surface if that makes sense?

So I end up having to take the front out to even the bed up again

My mares really wet and on auboise (she drinks half a dustbin a night) I've found Auboise much better than Megazorb or Easibed but having said that I throw the bed up every day and don't keep it down as you're meant to

I tried all sorts with a horse I used to have who was incredibly wet. Aubiose was certainly better than shavings, straw or paper, but it was still wet and didn't stop the urine smell. I deep litter with plenty of bedding on rubber and found I used quite a lot of Aubiose.

Megazorb, however, was fantastic stuff. It absorbed everything, stopped it spreading under the rubber matting and stopped the smell. I would take out the worst of the small wet patches because it was quick to do. I found I didn't need more than one bag a week top up, even in a 15' square stable. The first pallet load I bought was great, but subsequent pallet loads were much dustier. I carried on using it for that horse because it worked so well in terms of absorption and smell, but stopped using it when I sold him and didn't use it for other horses because of the dust. If I had another "wet" one I would probably buy Megazorb again.
