and as you all know what goes in must come out...

And because of the wet weather and 33 constant days of rain, he has been kept in, although he is loose in his yard all day.

We put 2 bags of wood pellets in his bed and they didnt work, although it wasnt as wet as i expected when i walked on it, although lookedvery wet.

suggestions please? what bedding would be best do you think?

I know should be in stable yard, but no one ever visits there

i would give him a very large bed, with fine shavings at the bottom. have you tried pouring a couple of boiling kettles on his hay to damp it through? i find this reduces the water that the guzzlers and dunkers consume?

He actually does eat his hay and then drink water after a few mouthfuls - maybe soaking would help, but he will still be comsuming the same amount of water though, so peeing the same?

he has a big bed, 12x12...

what is auboise? we are considering allbed but still not sure

well, mine are going through 3 normal sized buckets of water a night each because they're on dry hay, and are fine on wood pellets. even if i have to use 2 or 3 bags a week it's still cheaper than shavings. i had 2 on ecobed cardboard (2 bales a week) that were fine, but one churns it all up and was needing 5 bales a week, aaarrrggghhhh. at least with the wood pellets you can put a bag in dry, mix it in well, and it'll dry out the bed - i can't think of another material that does that...!

Very pleased with Jopack bedding (flax - I think!) Mine is a box walker and "mangles" it all up - also quite wet! Am using 1 bale of Jopack every 10 days - cost @ 11.36 per bale so fairly cost effective. I actually prefer it to wood pellets which I used last Winter.

Does Aubiose work well for mares who kick their droppings throughout their bedds too?

No - because whilst it binds moisture, it doesn't bind legs

My girl is similar but her hay is soaked and she still nearly always finishes a full tubtrug, she has been on wood pellets since beginning of winter and to be honest they are soooo filthy now (even though mucked out twice daily) it looks like sopping wet soil, she's having a bag in every day and still makes no difference, i'm going to sling the lot out and switch to rubber mats and straw and try her on that - she drives me mad .............
