I have an outside kennel and run, which has had very little use as my last greyhound was claustrophobic and would not go anywhere near. The current greyhound has found it and made it his own. I am wanting to use it during the day when I go out to my swimming classes etc. As I would like him to be able to be muzzle free (needed when unattended in the house as he is a thief and can open cupboards) I need bedding which he is not going to rip to shreds, he has already done that with an old duvet and foam dog bed. I also am bothered that blankets etc will get damp.

I currently have straw and bedmax in the barn but would be happy buying in other bedding for him if needed.

We use shredded tea bag bedding on top of cow matress inside KM engineering raised beds for chewers. Good pups get a Tuffie on top of a Hi-K9 raised bed

Straw is a great bedding but very out of favour nowadays.
Scout has a fleece blanket and vet bed, he doesn’t eat that. I hang it on his door on sunny days but it never feels damp.

Kennelmate beds are really tough!

I have always had one in the boot in my car. I had one dog who used to dig the bed obsessively on a journey out for a walk. It look her about 7 years before she managed to dig a hole in that bed 😅

Thanks folks.

Vetbed in the house has been chewed, he pulls holes in it when excited so I will not risk using that when unsupervised outside. It looks like I will start with shavings and have a straw topper as the weather gets colder.

Dont worry I will not make him shiver out there in bad weather.

My labs have tuffies beds in their runs.
You can get kennel heaters, OP, mine were so hot the dogs were sipping cocktails and wearing bikinis. I now have thermostats !
I wonder if a ceramic heat lamp well up out of reach would warm the space?

This is them. Dirty, sorry! I was worried they’d chew when we had the thermostats put in but they are maybe high enough not to trigger anything.

It was just a thought @rabatsa. I've never used them.

There a few different types on Amazon. Search for child safety cupboard locks. Some are fitted inside the cupboard.
