Best bedding for outdoor dogs

Our dogs live outdoors, in an insulated shed with heat lamp and stable door, the bottom half rubber slats to keep the draught out. The shed is in a concrete run which when it rains obviously gets wet and the dogs paddle damp in on their feet as well as having wet coats if they are sat out in it - yes, they are that stupid!

In the past we have used, in order of working best, hay, vet bed, duvet, blankets.

Is there anything else out there that can keep outdoor dogs cosy and warm that we haven't tried?

You can buy greyhound shredded paper badding,usually it is shredded paper feed sacks,so pretty tough.You`ll need a fairly deep sided bed box to keep it tidy ..it needs to be deeply put in for comfort. The other trick to stop wet being tramped in is either a towel folded over and placed in the doorway as a foot dryer,or a decent sill and then sawdust/woodshavings on the shed floor.
Your heat lamp will help keep the actual bed area dry as well.Any local greyhound stadium is a good start place to find a trainer who will be using the shredded sacks.

Agree with the paper and the sawdust or shavings on the floor too especially if you put a strip of wood in the doorway that they have to step over to keep water out. A friend uses shredded paper for horses which works perfectly too.
