As above really. Currently on dust extracted shavings, as are all boxes surrounding him. Also haylage.SO as he will be coming in overnight soon need to try new bedding.
 
Paper or cardboard. Ideally away from other boxes i.e. on the end of a line if possible.

Any other bedding and you get dust and ammonia. Paper is the most hygienic, no dust and no ammonia if wet is taken out everyday.

Most vet hospitals use cardboard and paper and it has been scientifically tested to be the best in terms of least dust. Even dust extracted shavings have small particles i.e. irritants.
 
my boy has it too he is on the end off the block with two tackrooms between him and the next horse he is bedded on snowflake soft chip like easibed but they use a whiter wood which leaves bed cleaner for longer
