Best bit for a youngster?

What do you think it would be?

I'm thinking possibly just a simple snaffle, But if anybody uses anything else and gets a good result please say.
Also would you get it in metal or rubber if it was a first bit?

For bitting for inhand I use a nylon mullen snaffle, for breaking the Sprenger KK fulcheek snaffle.

I found that the simple snaffle was too much for my youngster.

I went over to a KK (with the lozenge) and that was much better. Made the mistake of getting a loose ring and that caused a few problems so now in an eggbutt...KK Dynamic. very nice bit with lozenge and curve. Horse loves it.

I started with a straight bar happy mouth with loose rings, was fine but she mouthed it a lot, after the dentist visit, he sugested I use a double jointed bit, So shes now in the KK and goes much better. Full cheeks might be a good choice though, as occasionally the loose rings go through her mouth slightly when we have a small discusion over turning away from home

I use a copper bit with a lozenge. Chancer prefers a loose ring to an eggbut and most definately likes copper to stainless steel or a nylon mouth piece.

Did originally start with full cheeks but changed to the loose ring. Have always used a lozenge or french link on him.

I use a Happy Mouth mullen filet baucher and he's a happy baby ned in it

We used a full cheek happy mouth with a central roller for breaking her. For bitting for the first time I used a very soft straight rubber bit.
