I am pretty hopeless with bits and tend to stick to NS snaffles for everything. However, i have recently changed dentists and she made the comment that my mare has a typical small WB mouth and a fleshy tongue and lips. Also, it was really interesting as my mare felt loads better after having the dentist despite the dentist saying she had no particular issues but was just ready for her 6 month check up. This made me think that she is quite sensitive to what is going on in the mouth and I wondered if she might be more comfortable in something different.

So I would welcome people's views on the best bit for the type of mouth I've described?

Thanks

My mare is the same and goes in a myler D ring french link for dressage, as it's curved for tongue room, and the D rings don't pinch her lips :) She sits behind lozenged bits as I think she dislikes the tongue pressure of the lozenge.

Thanks KatB. I was thinking a myler might be worth a try so good to hear it works for your mare with a similar mouth. Mylers seem to have lots of variety though! I assume yours doesn't have a port?

I have the same WB problem, I use the mylers, there fab bits, he's in a 5" comfort mouth hanging cheek snaffle BD legal, and then the same mouth piece but in a pelham for his jumping.
