Im looking for a different bit for a very strong pony he's not strong in walk or trot but canter he gets very strong, ( head up and in ) He's currently in a running gag that came with him. I have only just bought him....
The saddle is fitted.
His previous owners had his teeth done last back end. I've got the dentist man looking at another horses teeth on Thursday so ill get his done too.
He's very forward. I'm thinking maybe try school him in a snaffle.
I would focus your schooling sessions on balance and suppleness in whatever bit he is most relaxed in - ponies that get strong and have tendency to run in canter often have issues with balance and tension.
If he's young he's probably just unbalanced and the last thing he needs is a gag. Put him in a snaffle get him supple and balanced in walk and trot in an arena then introduce canter, up small hills is quite good or we just do long sides of the arena at first. When they rush we just bring them back to trot and rebalance them. He may need a physio to check him over.
