Best bits/perks of being at a livery yard?

Hi everyone,
Moving my horse to a livery yard this winter to allow more riding in the dark nights, very scaredas my horse has always been at home.
So what are the best bits/perks of being at a livery yard?

Getting married soon so will be moving. The paddock is the deal breaker (joking) hope to get it built this time next year.

I love being on a livery yard!!! If you get the right one there are so many positives.
Social side
Facilities
Support
Motivation
Normally someone has the bit of equipment you are thinking of buying, and will lend to try out
Usually vets, farriers, instructors regularly up, so less hassle than arranging for 1 or 2 at home
You learn more - you are exposed to more veterinary/handling/training ideas

So for me, with riding/competition horses, unless I won the lottery I couldn't imagine not being on livery (I LOVE where I am currently). I have 1 - 2 horses that aren't in work though and that is when I would love a paddock and shelter on the back of my house!

Generally always someone around if anything goes wrong or even just to share tea and chit chat
It took me a few attempts to find the right yard for. Have now been here nearly 8 years

I'm sure you already know life on yards has its ups and downs-just like the rest of life
 
I'm very lucky and I love my new yard (the shine had worn off my old one for various reasons, but mostly it hurt going becasue of the memories of my old horse who died there).

I have a whole new circle of friends,
Nearly always someone around to have a chat/coffee/cremant (!) with.
Lots of support with the horses
People to bounce ideas off
A variety of instructors to learn from

I personally love going to the competitions and acting as groom, practice jump putter upper, water bucket carrier, team supporter, non-parent support/ person to whinge at etc.

Plus, being on a farm, my horses get exposed to all kinds of comings and goings/machinery etc :)
 
I like our yard becasue there is only a period between about 9pm and 6am where there is no-one there (other than YO sleeping in house!) so the horses have nearly constant supervision by one person or another.
Several times uncomfortable horses have been spotted by another livery before owner was due to come so has been able to be dealt with quicker. This sort of situation saved Chico's life once.

Most of all though it's the social aspect, lots of chatter, lots of laughter, lots of learning and loads of fun!
 
I'm at a wonderful livery yard. The best bit is the excellent care, nice people to chat to and ride with and a great instructor on site.

Mine are on 5 day livery so its no issue if I have to work late or can't get up.

I've done our own yard, and bad livery yards. The key is finding a good one that suits u and your horses.
 
Social/help available espcially in emrgencies/hay, bedding, feed etc all on site/great hacking/people to bounce ideas of, borrow from, have coffe with/help hitching up trailer/fencing waters etc all taken care off/facilities/lighting/concrete (came from a yard with very little!) - I could go on, I appreciate all of this as i came from a basic yard where it was just me and a couple of others, all the jobs were down to me, collecting hay every week, and bedding, and feed, not enough lights, rubbish hacking, no school etc etc. I now have far more time to spend with my pony which is the most important thing imo
 
I think all the perks have been mentioned- although it's so important to get the right one - I've experienced many wrong ones! :)
 
I have my horses as my Mum's farm but am seriously considering putting the new one at livery for the winter. mainly as I feel an indoor would mean I could compete thru the winter... but then again it's cheap as chips at MUm's so that would win out!
