Hi everyone,

My racehorse tore his check ligament last year and will be slowly brought back into work in a couple of months.

I’m looking to find the most protective and supportive boots, can anyone recommend anything?

Many thanks :)

When I brought a racehorse back to work following a nasty tendon injury he did all his slow exercise with no boots and only wore some for fast work and racing, nothing can support the limb and while walking and trotting unless they don't move straight so are at risk of brushing there is very little risk of a strike injury so in my view are best left to strengthen up without boots that may cause the leg to heat up.

I forgot to say does brush so he’d have to wear brushing boots if there’s nothing else that would be worth buying. Thanks for your reply!

Personally I'd want to keep that leg as cool as possible to would boot minimally - if you need brushing boots then I'd suggest the lightest possible with the best chance of air flow. There's little point in me recommending as I'm used to fitting welsh legs so sure somebody else can chip in here.

What I would say is that mine had a minor check ligament strain about 8 years ago and we still get some residual swelling when his leg gets too hot (vet has checked and not of any major concern), but I like to keep legs as cool as I can for this reason.
