Hi, This is my first post on H&H and after a bit of advice. I am looking at starting doing a lot more trekking out with the ultimate aim of a week long trail ride. I have some tall leather boots for the school and used to use short boots and half chaps for light hacks but I was wondering if anyone could recommend the best boots for long days in the saddle where I might need to walk a little too. Is something like the Dublin River Boot suitable or would you go short and chaps? Many thanks in advance for your help!

If you are going to be walking I'd totally go for short boots, probably a yard boot type that are comfy all day.

My and OH's walking /riding boots are Ariat. Have had them for years. They are not absolutely perfect for mountain walking as they have to have smoother soles than normal tracking boots but we have walked long distance in USA in them, including once through patches of snow. And they double as boots for riding on trail rides.
