I desperately need to get some new breeches (rather than jods) for everyday wear. I am size 14 hourglass so smallish waist and big bum/thighs! Any recommendations on brands? I usually go cheapy/2nd hand but would rather get something that fits and is flattering and doesn't give you awful VPL?!

ive just had to buy some new ones for winter as my butt has grown again-very curvy and small waist so same as you -ive had a pair of bridleway ones which are lovely and thick and were under £30 -a pair of toggi ones which were under £25 -i also like the tesco ones they are quite thick and last ages and sized like clothes (12,14 etc) and they are under £20:D

I'm a size 12-14 and hourglass shaped, I swear by Derby House breeches and havent ridden in anything else for years now! www.derbyhouse.co.uk. They are good value (if you can wait until there is a sale on you can get some bargains - I got 2 pairs a month or two ago which were down from £45.99 to £12.99 each!) and good quality, even the paler colours dont go see-through when worn. I go with their size 32 and that seems to fit well on me.

They also sell a lot of other brands so there is more than just their own brand stuff to choose from.

Just spotted a voucher code too for Derby House (naughty me looking for horses on horsemart when I should be working!) - HMINTRO5 gets you £5 off your order!

Lovely, thanks guys that gives me something to go on - might try a pair of Derby House (cheers for the code!) and a pair of the Mark Todds. Our local Tesco doesn't do horse gear unfortunately!

Re. the Mark Todd ones, what waist size would a UK 14 be then? 32"? Sizing for breeches/jods seems to be quite different to jeans so not quite sure where they are measuring as if I go by my jeans size it makes me a size 18 on some website conversion charts?!! I know I've put on weight but not quite that much unless I'm in massive denial!

another vote for mark todders :) i would say 30" or 32", i've got 2 pairs- one of each. theres not much in it so i'd just go on whether you reckon you're a big 14 or a small 14... if you get my jist :)
