Hi all, I'm in need of some new boots for competition use, so long, black and leather.

I really cannot justify spending hundreds of pounds so would like some cheaper suggestions please?

Thanks in advance

How about buying a really expensive brand of boots second hand so therefore a fraction of the price? I have done this before - because competition boots are normally solely for competition, they tend to be in fab condition. Ebay springs to mind, but preloved and BD classifieds have also been good

Ebay! My long black leather boots cost about thirty quid, someone bought them in a sale so no returns then decided they didn't fit, his loss my gain!

I am going to save you vallin DON'T BUY THEM!! I got some at the weekend I wore them around the house as was unsure of them and they murdered me. I have long slim legs and they are to high at the back granted you can get shorter ones but they would be too short on me. They are stiff ,cheap and have very little feel in them they are going back and Im getting a pair of bromonts my feet are well worth the extra pennies :)

Haha, I would have had to get the short ones any way (I have ridiculously short legs!) but have decided I can't afford a new pair anyway. I'm just going to get the zip repaired on my dublins *sigh* the joys of being a horse-owning student with vet bills to pay! (I covert the bromonts, have wanted a pair for about 3 years now! maybe for my 21st   )

I really like the look of the brown HKM boots - i might treat myself if my lorry ever sells as i need some new boots for day to day riding (ive got Konigs for comps which were a present).

I love my Ariat Bromonts, they are very comfortable and I like the suede on the inside as its a bit stickier but after looking at the link those HKM ones are gorgeous as well.

Thanks so much everyone, for your suggestions.:)

I love the look of the HKM boots.

A, have you had much interest in lorry yet?

Jen, hi *waves* how the devil are you?:)

Don't opt for the cheap Mark Todds, go for the Mark Todd Competition Field Boot (around £175) FAR better quality, realy smart, comfy fab boot. I swapped my Sarm Hippiques for these and love them.
