Best Cavaletti to buy - suggestions please

I'd like to buy 3 or 4 cavaletti, my dream scenario would be the Ingrid Klimke ones but I can't find anyone in the UK that supplies them (assuming I could afford them as in Euros they work out about approx £180 each). There is a general view that the old style cross ended ones aren't safe enough so could anyone recommend an adjustable cavaletti that would be considered to be relatively safe nowadays? Thanks in advance.

The ends can be made easily out of plywood a round pole from a agricultural merchants and an hour of a joiners time, talk nicely to a joiner or good handyman. Just show them a picture of a I K one without the name or price showing.

I'm an old f@rt, and have long known never to use cavaletti after my Pony Club DC had a horrible rotational fall over cavaletti with a young horse.

The modern plastic blok type supports are much safer, and there are a number of manufacturers of those. They have the choice of heights, and the poles can get knocked clear if the horse makes a mistake.

I too know a horse and rider fall, the horse died, with a standard cavaletti. I was interested in the Ingrid Klimke ones on reading your post, but have just had a look and it looks like they too would roll. An instructor had some at a clinic last month, I didn't know what brand they were but I did refuse to use them.

I bought some nice ones where the poles knock down, not too expensive, but can't remember where they were from. However, these look nice...

I'm another who grew up with wooden cavaletti, usually going down lines of them with no reins, stirrups or saddles in lessons. Looking back given the amount of half falls and trips I saw over them I was lucky to see no worse accidents. I wouldn't use any type that can roll but like the ones Red-1 linked to.

Ah, these are mine! I have yellow and blue. They stack by rotating 45 degrees to make a bigger one. Good quality.

Jump4joy ones. They don’t roll and had horses clobber them. I personally was a cheap skate and copied a template from jump4joy one and got my own made out of marine ply. I use them endlessly for footwork and to improve the canter. I went to Ingrid demo and it made me slightly twitchy when she mounts them on top of each other but they seemed to stay in place. Also didn’t move if horses knock them.

yes, i used them for years, my only 'issue' was that they are very easy to fall (eg just trotting past them could make one fall of the higher setting) if you used plastic poles on them, wooden poles where better

Thank you - I'd only be using them 'flat' to hold the poles still, possibly even put sand or water in them. As long as they hold the poles relatively still.
