i currently have several of our horses on a general purpose supplement that is working out at about £1/day for an average sized 500kg horse & am looking for an alternative.
Which gp supplement or balancer would you recommend, preferably with a cost of lower than £1/day as i will shortly have 5horses to feed it too! They are all good/reasonable doers so dont receive everything they need from their feed intake. They range from yearlings to a 4yr old to a 12yo in medium work and i would ideally like a supplement to suit all. Can anyone help? Is Feedmark Benevit Advanced any good?
Thankyou in advance!!!

I feed Benevit to my 2 good doers, have just bought a new tub this week after having them on it all winter and there is currently 20% off if you spend over £30 online, so... a 15kg tub comes down to £34.79, or 19p per day for your average horse/28p for the one in medium work. Cheapest way I've found of feeding a fairly decent spec general vit/min supplement by a long way!

Try looking at '365 Complete' by Equine Answers, mail order very quick, lots of products, am currently using and can thoroughly recommend, very well priced too.

okay maybe my wordin wasnt quite right with my title, im after a relatively cheap balancer that is also of good quality. I dont want to compromise quality, but dont want to be paying for the label when i can get the same results from a lesser known brand. I know of several different supplements (eg hoof, joints, etc) where this exists but not with regards to a general purpose supplement/balancer. Ill have a look into 365 Complete as hadnt heard of them, & for Benevit one i have a 50% off 1st order offer so that may work out nicely!

Naf pink powder works out at less than £1 a day for my 15hh, and kept him looking fab over last winter - it can be used at a reduced amount as a general supplement, but is also classed as a balancer if you up the dosage.

Benevit is excellent - have used it for years on all my horses from TBs to clydesdales.

I don't feed it in summer, as I am feeding more instant linseed for showing, plus brewers yeast and clivers for SI, and they are on summer grass, but September to March I use it daily.

If I want them to have more muscle and topline, I will on occasion give them a top up of Equilbra 500 - far better than Blue Chip in the results as they get more muscle and less fat with the 500.

I get my linseed and BY from Charnwood Milling as I buy in bulk as I get through a fair bit of the stuff with my two rather large hairies.

Try Charnwood kick on.

I find it excellent and much better value than some of the other balancers. About £19 a bag which lasts 2/3 months with one horse.

i'm just starting to look into this now - i contacted 365 complete and they were very helpful sending me a comparison with equilibra/topspec and blue chip. it definatley has higher quantities of the individual ingredients.

I need to get my caculater out - but i think you'd have to feed a hell of a lot of 365 to match top spec etc as it is a powder (i think you feed 40g a day) whereas i'm feeding 100grms per 100kilo body weight on top spec at the mo - i believe the other balancers have similar feed rates

Only just started looking at this so alot of the above are assumptions
