Im thinking of doing a bit of clipping in winter for extra cash, need heavy duty clippers that are light weight any advice on the best ones to buy that are good value for money:confused:

I have loads of experience with clippers, I repair them and sharpen the blades for a living!
I wouldn't go for any listers, they have a reputation for being plastic, heavy, noisy and outdated.
The wolseleys are slightly lighter clippers but you will find with proffesional use you will be changing the plastic head on it every two months. They are also not the quietest of clippers.
You can not go wrong with a heineger clipper, every model is built to last, are quiet mecahnically and are not as heavy as many others.
Hauptners are also a very sound clippers that are build to last, unfortunately they weigh something silly!
A heinger delta may be a good option for you but for £40-£50 extra you can get an Aesculap Econom clipper. All aesculap clippers are masterstrokes of engineering. They're quiet, tough, light and all round excellent quality. I never see these in for repair. They are the best of the best! The blades are fully compatible with heineger and oster stuart and are probably the best you can get blade wise also.
You should look to spend £300-£400 on your clipper.
Hope this helps!

WOW most impressed with Shear Ease, only one problem I found was lack of clients, local riding school like to take £30 for a clip, I don't think they would encourage incomers.
I tried to clip one horse in one yard, I had checked on electricity but the horse was kept in a stable with no power, fortunately I had extention cables, but the horse was greasy, and dirty in all the difficult places, it took for ever, so working in the dark, whole thing was a nightmare.

I wouldn't go near Heiniger clippers! I had a set which were 3 years old and gad only used them around 10 times and the motor went. It was more cost effective to buy a new pair rather than replace so I now have the Lister liberty cordless which I love. It is so nice not to have to worry about horse standing on cable.
