This is probably asked a thousand times but I’ve been looking at buying some masterclip cordless clippers. What are the best clipper brands on the market and best place to buy them from?

Must admit up until now I’ve always been lazy and paid someone to clip for me but now with yet another lockdown I’m forced to give in and start doing it myself??

I’ve bought Masterclip Roamers last year and they clip beautifully. Always see good reviews about them and their service on here although not needed any help yet. I’m a novice clipper and had no issues. They are quite big compared to some of the more expensive brands and a little heavy but manageable. I only did an Irish type clip on my Warmblood. I bought them off Amazon.

My daughter bought the Heiniger Explorer Cordless this winter. Best thing she has ever done. Lovely and quiet and no cord to get in the way. The horses and ponies that she used to have to sedate are now perfect with no sedation. It’s a miracle! I will just check with her later that I have told you the right model.

Heard from daughter! Heiniger Xplorere from farmcareuk.com. She bought a second battery but has never needed it. Clips out a large horse easily on a charge. Can’t recommend enough.

We have some very old Lister Laser's and some 10yo Lister Lasers on the yard and they are awesome! They are a heavy duty clipper which suits my needs but wonr suit the 3x a year clipper unless you have a Shetland pony type coat.

We also have a set of Masterclip cordless and I am not a fan at all in the slightest. The batteries don't last.

I got two batteries with my Roamers and for clipping once or twice a year one horse it’s better value for money. If you do hundreds like you do I don’t think they’d be the Best Buy.

I have Masterclip Rangers (corded), they're about 8 years old now and I would happily buy again/recommend.

Customer service wise, I had an issue with mine last year (a cog had sheared a few teeth) and emailed for repair info before figuring I could do it myself and response was very prompt (IIRC out of ours too!). The part I needed was still stocked despite mine being the older model and arrived within 48 hours of ordering.

I've seen a lot of poor reviews in relation to Heiniger CS recently and a friend that emailed RE an issue with hers was totally fobbed off so that would put me off those.
