Okay, I know this is a bit late in the season, but YOs blades are blunt from last time she clipped my cob

So I am planning on buying my own set of clippers...

(Nothing to do with the fact that I am DESPERATE to have a go with some clippers, honest!

)

My boy needs clipping out right now, desperately as he is way too hot under the worklaod and training reigime I have planned for him this season... Plus it would give me a chance to get my thoroughbred used to them.

So, value heavy duty clippers please?

Wolseley Swift are a good work tool. They've been around for years & are very reliable & ideal for clipping 2 or 3 horses at a time. Blades are easy to get hold of & are easy to get serviced. Mine have never let me down.

Is the Liveryman Apollo relatively quiet? I'm looking for something to last me a very long time and I would prefer something not too heavy as I am only a little weakling!

Ideally I would like a pair that I could clip out the whole of my cob at once with, and he is a real traditional with 2.5" long hair!! Cordless would be nice, but I think it would just not be possible to clip the whole of my cob out in one go, hence I was looking at the Apollo ones.

I have the Apollo ones and they are good enough for my 2. I have a TB and a thick furred Cob

They are fairly light but really easy to handle. This is my first season of clipping and other than both mine ending up as full clips - not that I messed my lines up or anything

-I have had no problems. I cant really comment on the noise, but they are quieter than my friends 20 year old Hauptners!! Niether of my two bat an eyelid at them anyway.

The apollo is the entry level set in the range, made in Germany, and licensed in the UK by eddie palin, they are a nice set, and not too heavy, they would certainly do for what you want, they are a well engineered piece of kit IMO.

Same width blade as the others also.

I think your choice is dictated by the task you have with your ned CB

I have the lister showman cordless clippers-very efficient and you can definatley clip out a whole hairy in one go with them!-should last for years-I love mine-shop around the websites for the best price. A place called "Peasridge" are very good for advice about which clippers to buy with lots of online info-although not neccesarily the cheapest to buy from-dont have the website address but I think "Peasridge" in search engine brings it up ok.
