Hi, I'm looking for some clippers to get through my cobs thick feathers and to do the odd trace or blanket clip. I'm on a budget of about £100, and I'm happy to buy second hand. I've seen some liveryman element ones which look ok.
What would you reccomend? :)

I'm anxious to see the replies, I have a half clipped Mustang out back from attempting to use my husbands hair trimmers. Everything was going smoothly, and I even tried my hand at design clipping and put a heart on his hindquarter. Then we ran into trouble in the thick hair area around his belly... They just wouldn't cut it! So I borrowed my father-in-laws clippers and they were too dull for his thick hair as well. He looks like a mess!!!

I have a set of Heiniger clippers, nice and quiet. Have a cob with thick hair, never done is feathers though.

Although do make sure your blades are sharpened after each year. did not do mine, 2 sets tried, now have an awful half clipped pony, they would not get through the hair on his bum!! having to use an exercise sheet to hide it until I get them both sharpened. he looks a mess.

They happily manage half clip, re clip and a full clip before sharpening blades last year. But never do that and then expect them to do another full clip on him the following year when he has been nakes all winter !!!!
