I'm after recommendations for the best coats with tummy covers for little dogs. Ancol muddy paws stormcover used to be great, but the new ones I've got are a horrible fit.

I’ve got a cairn terrier, a shih tzu and a chihuahua and all of them west equafleece. It is waterproof so keeps them dry and goes on like a jumper. The dogs don’t mind me fiddling about with them to put them on but I guess not all dogs will be compliant

The Equifleece is Hector's favourite jumper. I do wish he had got a zip fitted at the back though, as he is old and stiff and getting it on and off is a bit of a palaver!

Pomppa seem to be popular with the agility crowd at the moment. I was really looking forward to having a small dog that might need to wear a nice matchy matchy coat, turns out he's disappointingly weatherproof and in any case won't move an inch with an equafleece on.

Ours made like a statue the first time he wore a raincoat, the type with full legs. He got used to it in the end, but then he is absolutely not waterproof and shivers pitifully at the first sign of getting wet!

I've got muddy paws ones for our chihuahuas as they wrap under the front & belly keeping them cleaner as they're'low riders' as I call them lol! I don't think they'd like me man handling them into a jumper type thing - I needed something that went on quickly.

These are what I have, the muddy paws one. I have a really old one which is great. The new ones are really crap. Which is why I'm after something else

I got mine only a few months ago off Ebay but new - they're the older ones you've mentioned as I had the exact same style around 7 years ago when my spaniel was a pup & they fit nice. Maybe worth keeping an eye on there? I think Masta do little dog coats with tummy covers too :)

I agree Equifleece for my hairy terrier are great for keeping mud off the belly.Easy to pull on he has the whole range from snow suit to tank. Not cheap but last for years.

Equafleece, Hurtta or Ruffwear!

You can pay extra and have a zip put into the back of Equafleeces. My stroppy JRT doesn’t growl if I hold the back and bring it forward towards the ground then she squirms out backwards xx

Always had Equifleece for our BTs, I've even had one go swimming in the sea but he was dry underneath. I really like the fact that if the coat gets very dirty it's quick to wash and dry but ususally I just shake the mud off. The one Stanley has is about 15 years old as it belonged to our first BT

Resuscitating this thread...

After seeing various recommendations for Hotterdog/Equafleece on here,
I got a Hotterdog vest with legs for my JRT. As i like my hands and want to keep them ? I put my a zip into the back.

Makes it easy to remove - even with a terrier!

It has made walking through the mud so much easier - no showering off now required (much to her relief). Wish I had got one before
