I've had a few quotes for getting an arena put in but I am quite keen to hear other people's experiences, good and bad, of having an arena built by a company or contractor. If you have recommendations, please do tell!

Hi. I used Maple Arenas. Researched and hesitated for years but they did a fab job for a really good price. Used their own comfride surface and its all still beautiful. It did finally freeze last winter but as it was -16' I can live with that. Decided in the end that although I could get a builder in for less money it is such a huge and expensive investment I would rather ask those who do it every week to complete. They handled the planning and the arena was started when they said and finished when they said too. Hope this helps.

Charles Britton recently did one for a friend. They did the whole process, including planning which could have been tricky where it is, but it went through 1st time and the construction process was very painless. It has not been down long enough really to tell how it will stand up but it is used 3-4 hours a day and they are having to turn one out in it now as well and it seems to be coping well. I can find out which surface they have if you want - it was not a cheap option but very efficient, hardly a local company I realise but they are national.

Another vote for Maple Arenas, ours is perfect, they got it in to a space that had a 32ft gradient corner to corner, we had a nightmare time with the weather and they were superb. Had it a year now and it had only one day where it was too solid to ride last winter, we never water it and it was perfect all summer. Xx

Hello,
I also had Charles Britton and am very happy to recommend them. Crew were excellent,
and they readily accommodated a couple of changes, and always asked me if
there something was not clear or they had concerns regarding design, e.g. drainage,
etc. The quote was clear and there were no hidden "extras."

I have their sand topped with large rubber strips so we ride on top of the rubber
and it still looks as good as the day they finished.

Good luck -- dene
