Best company for freeze marking?

Farmkey did my mare and I was very pleased. The mare is fine skinned, can be sensitive and had never been clipped before. The Farmkey lady was very calm and understanding and took her time and had the clippers on for a few mins before actually clipping the patch. She adjusted the times that the markers were on the horse to suit her fine skin and there was no fuss at all from the mare. I did have some carrots as bribery which helped keep her standing still while the marks were done. :)

I used freezemark ltd last October.

Everyone was friendly and helpful right from my initial point of contact through to the day of having the freezemarks done.

One of my horses walked around the stable but the lady marking them stayed calm and just walked around with him.

I couldn't fault their service!

I second Farmkey.

I did ring Freezemark.biz first and they said they'd ring when they were in my area, that was about 2 years ago and I still haven't had a call back :p:D.

Farmkey came out within 2 weeks of me ringing them and they also did a follow up call asking if the mark was complete and if I was happy with everything. So, no complaints from me :).

Farmkey were fab with my yearling, really calm and confident with her, just all in all great service.

As above, Freezemark said they'd ring me back when they were in the area, that was about a year ago now! xx

I also used Farmkey and found them on the whole, helpful - do check the date on your booking confirmation though, I had the wrong date - twice!
Also they were good when I needed to have one of Mason's numbers re-done. For some reason the 8 didn't take properly, see photo:

but they came out, no fuss, no charge and did it again.

Another thumbs up for Freezemark.

I found them very efficient to deal with, lady who did marking explained process to me and cracked straight on. She also just walked around with the freezemark letter for my big boy who was being a wuss.

x

From my experience of both, Freezemark Ltd was better; also they do personalised numbers which I opted for as less uncomfortable for the horse (I had two digits only)

I used Farmkey for Red and they were brilliant. I asked for a personalised one when she arrived(you're supposed to ask when you ring) and the lady was brilliant about it.
Red's is still a bit scabby but it looked like this about a month ago :)

Thank you for all your replies. I have a very white filly who has only the tiniest bit of brown would they still be able to mark her and would this be visible? I still debating where to get them marked on the shoulder or the saddle area??

What's your thoughts on how much they are a good visual deteriorate?

It really depends on where her dark patches are.
They will do a bald mark on grey horses, but not under the saddle, they only do bald marks on the shoulders. Letters are about 4cm tall, and marks can be done 4 in a row (See R3DD earlier) or a 2x2 matrix. (See my earlier post for Masons)
I chose to have Mason done on the shoulder rather than under saddle as I personally think it's a great deterrent.
People can see it even when I'm riding, which would be handy if he were stolen and sold on and taken out by new purchasers. With a freezemark under saddle, nobody would be able to see the mark if the horse was being ridden.
just my opinion, but like I say, I made a conscious decision to have it done on the shoulder.
she sounds lovely, can we have a photo of the little lady in question?!

Beautiful!!!!!! She really is a stunning colour. I'm sure the colour experts will confirm, but I think that she is a near maximum sabino.

I would get a bald mark on her shoulder. My chestnut's freezemark is on the shoulder and I am very pleased with it and I don't really notice it now. I had been worried that it would 'bug' me and that I should have got it on her saddle area, but it's fine.
