Thinking ahead to next years shows, and would like to take my rising 2 year old filly out to a few. However, my question is do these condition classes take in conformation? My little girl is slightly cow hocked but was in stunning condition throughout the last summer and when plaited up looks great except for the hocks, I wouldn't do youngstock classes this year for that reason.

To my understanding condition and turnout is all about the presentation, everything has to be immaculate, and I mean immaculate. They also take into account what you are wearing and your correct turnout, correct in-hand bridle worn etc. I dont think as a general rule that confirmation is a requirement, this would be more of consideration if you were entering in a youngstock class.
:)
Have fun :-)

As a judge I would take conformation into consideration, however that doesn't mean I would atomaticly put a poorly conformed horse below one that is in poor condition. To me poor condition can also mean too fat. It really depends on what else is in the class.

I am also slightly inclined to forgive youngsters with wayward legs because good foot balance and nutrition can transform them.
