Best courier to send a saddle

Hi All

I'm selling a saddle so need to send it via post, I have heard many horror stories about Hermes so won't use them! I used Royal Mail to send other valuable items and they went missing, the delivery driver had faked a signature and left them, out in the rain, at a house over 1 mile away!!

So, who would you guys recommend?
 
I book mine on interparcel.com - they give you quotes from several well known companies for different services (same day, 24hr, 48hr etc) and you can pick the price and delivery option that suits you best.
I have sent several saddles using interparcel and never had a problem.
 
I used Parcelforce with insurance up to the value of the saddle, no issues whatsoever and arrived in perfect condition. I would always trust Parcelforce over other couriers for expensive items.
 
I use My Hermes and add insurance to cover the value of the saddle (which also includes signature and you get the tracking information). I put lots of tape around the box as find they are sometimes flimsy. Have never had a problem and with the insurance I am fairly confident that in case of a problem I would get my money back.
 
I sold a western saddle a few months back on ebay and I just sent it thought the normal post office (maybe it went through Parcel Force) cost about 25 and arrived 4 days later perfectly safe.
 
My hermes are great in my area. Can you ask the purchaser who she could recommend to deliver in her area.

Agree with comprehensive insurance though.

The only time I had a problem with My Hermes was when they thought they hadn't delivered a parcel when they had. They kept asking me if I wanted to make a claim.

I sent a saddle I had sold on Ebay via Royal Mail (as I could do it from the Ebay link). It arrived safely and the buyer commented on how well it was packed.
 
I've sold 2x pairs of riding boots and a saddle via Facebook and sent them via Parcelforce. Never had an issue with them.
