Hi there,
My daughter wants to buy her own cheapish digital camera so i can take pics of her jumping at shows and so on, our camera at the moment has about a 3 second delay time meaning i usually miss the fences :( Does anyone no of a particular make of camera that is good for catching the jumps and prehaps also has a explosion effect to capture all the stages of the jump??
help apprectiated i have no idea where to start!
Thanks.

My daughter has a Canon Ixus which is instant, however I think it was about £120. (Problem is mine is 3 second delay and I take too early with hers as I'm used to mine!). I'd recommend going somewhere camera specialist/John Lewis to ask if there's anything cheaper that does instant photos.

I had a fantastic Kodak camera, basically get a Kodak make sure it has HD and make sure you can take a picture from a video clip. Basically get someone to film and then you can stop the film (i.e take a picture) from whichever frame you like the most...

It was fab when I had it as you can get the nice 'trot' image, as opossed to the one where I am rising, which always happens when someone is taking images!

x p.s Must be HD, the quality is amazing.

How cheap are you talking?

All digital cameras will suffer with a shutter lag, you can solve this either by figuring our what time delay your camera has and try taking the snap before the action or spend a touch more and buy a camera with a continuous shooting mode.

I've got a Fuji Finepix S5700, its not a proper SLR so not a massive outlay and far more user friendly :) it has loads of different settings and 2 different continuous shooting modes.

Go to Jessops or your nearest camera store, tell them what you want, what you want it for and how much you want to spend.

I have any number of digital point and shoot and SLR cameras and I go to Jessops almost every time. I bought my daughter a replacement point and shoot at Christmas, and got a little Nikon Coolpix at under £100. It is an excellent little camera and there are some real bargains to be had at specialist stores.
