New area for me with having very hot horses I've never really needed one, now we're at a more advanced stage a whip is being handy for small extra aids. However, I only have a boring black one and fancy a fancysmancy one ;) #onceadressagedivaalwaysadressagediva!

I have seen an amazing rose gold handled one but as the sellers have yet to reply to me :rolleyes3:, I wondered if there were whips out there that were different in any ways other than appearance? What does everyone else use?

I absolutely adore my Fleck Balance Whip - i have the redwood coloured one. Only problem is im a tad too protective of its newness feel so it only gets brought out for competitions or clinics. Worth every penny though.

I like the really cheap fleck whips with the knobbly handle. Well balanced and nicely floppy. I buy them in bulk when I see them because one by one, they get mangled by kira :o

This one, I buy them in 120cm

I have found that Bob the notacob responds best to a 12 inch twig broken off from a hedge ,preferably with leaves attached. At the first sigh of inattention I flick it and threaten to beat him within an inch of his life . This results in the ears drooping out sideways in an eeyore like fashion and absolute concentration for at least 5 seconds. My dressage whip has a number of benefits , Firstly it is incredibly cheap , secondly it is very light and doesnt affect ones "hands" thirdly if all goes well ,at the end of the session ,Bob can eat it.

I've used this method to great effect but sadly baby Skylla has eaten everything in the vicinity :o;)...

Bob sends his best wishes to Skylla ,and sharing some news ,actually got an 8 for the first movement of his last walk trot test (Ok it all went downhill after that but it was his first 8 . There is hope Skylla ,he says.

They make a great pair then, as Skylla says she finished on an eight, (her very first too) at the weekend so maybe they can join forces and do half each?

Another vote for the Fleck balance whip. I am currently on my third: lost one, an anonymous person snapped the replacement in a door, and one of the knobbles has fallen off my current one, but it still works so I can't bear to throw it away!
