Best dust free bedding

It's two questions - what is best dust free and what is economical. Personally I use hemp or flax bedding rather than shavings because I think they are more absorbant, so I use less. They also rot faster and make a smaller muck heap, which is important to me. I find them less dusty than shavings. It's not cheap, but it lasts longer, so eventually I find it is cheaper.

Oops sorry it is two questions. Never tried hemp before but looked at aubitoise and its expensive.

cardboard. i use Ecobed and absolutely swear by it, having tried everything else. it's mega-clean, warm, absorbent, no smell, v easy to muck out, doesn't dry feet out (as some bedding types can), doesn't break down to dust with use/age unlike shavings, wood pellet bedding etc, mulches down (or burns) really easily. if you have a wormery near you they'll have all they can get of it, the worms love it, i had to listen to a worm expert waxing lyrical about how fantastic it is for about an hour once. they all looked like earthworms to me but apparently not, they were very happy juvenile very fussy something-or-other-worms! ;) ;)

I'm on safemix (£5.15 per bale when picked up) now for my messy copd mare and am finding it absolutly brilliant! I mix it prob half and half with equichip (£4.20 per bale but 2kg lighter than the safemix) so make it even cheaper. It gives a good solid and dry bed. I poo pick it every day and take the wet out every 2/3 days and get through 2 bales a week to maintain a good deep bed and heafty banks! The bales are smaller than shavings bales and it doesn't puff up but a little goes along way as the wet seems to almost set and so doesn't get all ground up through the bed.

Even though i love flax it can get dusty. Best dust free bedding i have used are....

Easibed (unless your horse is really wet)
Ecobed (found it is too absorbant and gets very soggy and heavy and had to use a lot more of it)
Natural Flake shavings (no dust whatsoever)
Safemix (lovely bedding)

Nedz Bedz, non allergenic so not dusty at all, fine for a very wet and messy horse(just take the very wet out leave the damp, dries out quickly), doesn't smell, and about £6 a bale where we are.
