Best fitting rug for foal?

My youngster is 6 months old and I measured him today for a rug if and when he needs one. He is 14 hands and needs a 4'9" rug. Which makes are not too deep and are narrow around the chest? He's quite fluffy so I only want a rain sheet for wet and cold days.

Mine just had whatever was cheap and cheerful, and I put darts in the shoulders if needed - then I could take them out if they broadened out before outgrowing the rug.

They only fit one size for 5mins before needing more, so I wouldn't spend much!

I needed a 4.6 for my foal and no where sold foal rugs in these sizes but pony rugs were to deep. After a lot off looking I was told a amigo mio pony rug and it's perfect. Local stud used them and fit foals perfect and cost me £38.

Saxon are a good depth and chest for babies

I lkie the amigo rugs but the only thing that worries me with them is that they don't adjust at the front. Foaly is quite narrow around the shoulders.

I've got a 5'3 saxon on my 6 month old warmblood foal

My foal is very narrow, was a rescue and just walking bones but fits perfect. I can't post pics on here but if u wanted to see a pic, pm me your e mail and I could send you a few.

I lkie the amigo rugs but the only thing that worries me with them is that they don't adjust at the front. Foaly is quite narrow around the shoulders.

The same reason i dont like them on youngsters.


The Saxons are buckles on the front - and cheaper than Amigos too!

The Saxon I tried didn't fit on the front, was to loose and hanging down where as the amigo fitted perfect. Had my foal got a better front it would off been fine but he really has nothing there and the amigo was a fab fit. Same price as well, Saxon was £40 so a couple off £ in it.

I got 2 saxons last week for that price.

Im a complete convert to them (I like Weatherbeeta rugs anyway) but ive had more expensive rugs that have leaked far quicker than my cheapy Saxons.

This was a filled Saxon though not a lite weight. Where u buy yours from? I just love horseware rugs and have found nothing fits my horses quite like them. Ditched all my landas as they are always to tight on the shoulders off my horses.

I really would like to know? I sell them in the shop I work at, I do the buying for the shop and with weatherbetta we get a 10% off trade price for the shop which is the terms we agree when I set up the account. And I can't even buy a med weight Saxon for trade minus our 10% off the trade price for £20 so would like to know. Unless it was a shop clear out?

When mine was 6mths i got her a masta zing l/w sizes go up to 5 ft.
It fitted really nice,but only lasted half the winter
