best fly sheet with a belly flap?

Hi, my mare wore the evison equine sheet all last summer without a problem but i could do with a change this year as the belly flap is abit baggy and as thats the main place she gets bitten i need one that fits well. shes turned out 24/7 but she isn't really a rug wrecker :) i'd like one thats as cool as possible. If anyone can save me hours trawling through horse sites i will be eternally grateful. Thanks :D

whoops sorry :o she's a cob but on the fine side :) she usually fits weathabeeta and horseware nicely, the evison is a brilliant rug just rubbing abit this year and with the flys been on speed this year its just not doing its job

thanks :) i've had the one without the belly strap before and liked it, i didn't know they did a sweet itch one i'll have a nosy now :)
 
I've just got the Premier Equine sweet itch hoody ( had it a week) and it seems to be doing a really good job - the shires ones are shorter in the neck.
 
I've had my mark Todd air mesh one for about 3 weeks now and Madam (14.2 coblets) seems really happy and cool in it, no sweaty patches either and she is very happy having it put on (which isn't always the case with rugs etc). Impressed so far!

oh thats brill, i think i may go with this one then :) is the belly flap a decent fit on your coblet?
 
I got a 5'9" as she's 5'10" and it seems to fit well... will find out in the morning! Seems to be true to size - she would wear 6' in horseware (but I'm quote new to this, so others better placed to advise!)
 
I've got a Rambo Sweet Itch hoody rug for my traddie boy, its got a bellyflap with it and IMO these rugs can't be bettered. Wear well and are very serviceable especially for something like my boy who's big and chunky and needs something substantial. Think you can also get them without the hoody i.e. with the long neck but no hoody.

They are not the cheapest but ARE the best IMO.

Premier Equine do some nice rugs too; very reasonable, and last well. If you subscribe by e-mail to their mailing list; they very often have special offers on their rugs - so if you're looking at their website, don't buy UNTIL you've signed up, as they do do quite frequent reductions on their rugs and you'll always find them cheaper than on the website this way.

I had a Mark Todd fly rug with the belly section on it; however - the one I had (bought a few years ago and no longer usable) had just velcro to attach the belly straps to the side of the rug. I was never really happy with this; not that there was ever any incident with it, coz there wasn't, but I wish they'd included a proper fastening, for peace of mind.

The mark Todd one still has the belly panel attached only with velcro but I prefer this, and there are three big wide long straps with the velcro, also there are rear leg straps instead of a fillet string so much more secure and if those are snugly fastened enough ie not loose the rug shouldn't move at all, so far it hasnt moved an inch. The velcro has enabled me to make the belly section much snugger fit than normal fastening straps would have. The fly rug material would I assessed tear in an emergency, so I wasnt concerned like I might be with a rip stop winter rug.
