I have a 15.2hh mare that I would like to show as a hack in the summer but she needs to put more condition on. Although I am against 'fat' show horses if I took her in now she would look like a racehorse next to the others!

She is currently fed 1/2 scoop pony nuts, 1/2 scoop mix, 1 chaff and 3/4 beet twice per day. She has rock salt and soya oil in her tea.

Any suggestions?

How bizarre!

sorry i didnt read post properly b4 i answered...
i would put her on baileys no4 and alfa oil and a balancer if poss... i would also cut out the rock salt and just provide an ad-lib natural salt block in the stable that she can use when she needs. i would also be tempted to slosh in some corn oil into feeds.
what is her coat like? if its somewhat lacking lusture i can recommend spillers (or is it saracen i always forget, i think its saracen actually) Super Shine Plus oil. i use it on my mare and IMO it is FAB!! her mane used to be a little on the wiry side and is much better now

You can also put a mug a day of soya oil in feed, this puts weight on. I'd say you need to feed abit more especially roughage, maybe 3 or 4 feeds aday and adlib hay/haylage. You could ring up a feed merchant as they do have people that can help you..

The soaked oats diet is working well for mine - nuts, mix, minty chaff, speedi-beet and oats, and a bucket full of Readygrass twice a day along with ad lib hay, and my normally thin girly's looking amazing.
