Looking to replace my mares girth, it's a thorowgood which has started to split in a couple of places.

So elastic ends, non elastic, leather, neoprene ??
Too much choice.
So what do you prefer and why?
Thanks.

I have a Professional's Choice one for my lad: it grips really well, both elasticated ends so uniform pressure, easy to pull off the neoprene pad to rinse through but most importantly, I don't have to tighten it as much as other types.

Elastic both ends. Really rate shires with fleece lining ones at the moment. Wash really well and very good price. Ideal for my special sensitive skinned...cobs :o

I use the fairfax girth for flatwork on mine, it's leather both ends and since using them I definitely feel a difference compared to when I used a plain leather girth! My studgirths are prestige they are lovely soft leather and are elasticated both ends!

So I guess that's not much help lol! I do like having the elasticated straps for jumping tho! In my head it has a bit more give when they are going over a fence haha!

I have a variety of cheap fabric girths. The plastic ones, and expensive leather ones. They all appear to do the same job

Elastic both ends or not at all is fine but not on one end and not the other.
Leather takes a bit more care to clean look after, fabric ones you can throw in the washing machine.
Depending on your horses anatomy and saddle fit depends what's best.
Share horse 1 is in a bog standard cotton craft straight girth. My own pony is more barrel like so is in a curved/anatomical girth with no elastic.

For everyday I have a bridleway multi purpose girth. Elastic both ends and choice of fleecy or neoprene lining which is easy to change/wash. Really please with it and my girl seems happy and it is a bargain.

Love Professional Choice girths, in particular the Ventech. It's just fab, doesn't rub, lasts for years, doesn't slip, don't have it adjust it loads, just great.

Mine is in a Stubben string girth. It is the only one I have found that keeps him cool and doesn't irritant and rub. We have elasticated (one end) thorowgood ones at work and I hate them. They make them hot and irritate the skin and the sweat doesn't go anywhere.
