I have my eye on one for the tractor that has teeth and a bit at the side to pull in the edges. It's in the 'under £1000' category, not one of the posh ones with wheels. Would this work for sand and carpet fibre? A bit worried that it will just collect up all the fibre.....

Only ever use it when it’s wet, otherwise it pulls all the fibre up. I roll it when it's dry. Tbh these surfaces don’t generally back up around the edges like other do, I use use a normal set of chain harrows (spikes down when very wet if it needs a mix, normally spikes up)

Thanks, that's really useful. For the edges it's more to keep the weeds under control - it's only lightly used so they don't get disturbed and by the time I get around to weeding the task seems overwhelming. I have a roller and harrows already - hadn't really thought about using the harrows. They can't go backwards into corners though which are the bits that have the worst plant occupancy.
