best heavy weight rug under £170? Premier equine?

Couldn't stand the 450g PE I had. It was really heavy and cumbersome when wet.

this plus it leaked! PE was the worst rug I have ever bought. I feel bad still using it and the minute I can afford another I shall replace it. The horse hates it and I hate it.

I shall stick to Horseware in future.

Agree; PE rugs are very heavy (and more so when wet). The clips also broke on a number of mine.

The older ones (4 yrs +) seem to have worn better, the newer ones are much lower quality (and they have so many variations now - before there was literally just the one rug in different weights). The stable (snug rug) is good and still in use after 4 yrs but my two trios (about 4 yrs old but only worn for 1 winter) are rubbish and I cant get rid of them. Have ended up using the liners (what's left of them, some got completely trashed) on other rugs.

ETA: they are huge as well; they completely swamped my little 15.1hh TB - he fits fal/horseware/WB so much better. My chunky 15hh CBxTB was drowned in them too - again he uses fal/horseware/WB.

And the neck covers are such a faff to get on and off - the velcro really sticks!

I like PE. I have a lightweight which is the only one I have that doesn't leak and a 100g Buster with detachable neck cover and a 200g liner. I haven't used the liner yet as he was plenty warm enough in his Fal (another I'd highly recommend but I'm not so sure new ones are as good as the older ones?) 200g rug all last winter (it was pretty mild, if very wet with us!). If you sign up for their e-mails they have a daily deal which gives you 20% off something different every day. Worth waiting for if you're not desperate for a rug.

Rubbed all of ours. The clips broke, the seams came undone, the filling fell out...

Absolute waste of money.

I can carry 2 x weatherbeeta HW's by myself, even when they're wet. Can barely pick up 1 PE HW when wet!

Weatherbeeta do 1200D as standard. Much better fit. Much better value.

I only have the PE m/w combo but the strap was torn off first time it was used. I contacted PE and their customer service was not good. So after paying well over £100 for the rug after one wear I then had to pay around £45 iirc to get it washed and repaired. Despite my horse being gentle on rugs it's got numerous snags. Needless to say I wouldn't buy from them again or recommend!

I rate weatherbeeta rugs too but the best HW I have is the Bridleway Vancouver. It cost £99 and is going into it's third winter still in fantastic condition and keeps my TB very warm despite being 300gm. I'd highly recommend it.

My boys both have WB HW, in fact all of our horses do, some are around 10 years old now and still going strong on horses that live in them 24/7 through the winter!

I only have a PE MW and I must say it is a very heavy rug compared to WB.
