I am replacing all the rugs my mare came with as too small. It seems some brands which have been good like FAL are not as good as they were. Any advice on best h.w turn-out for 16h.h ISH with plenty of bone please. Thanks!

love my JHL/Mark todd heavy weight TO's they havethe extra gullet over the withers so when they are grazing/heads down the hoods acctually go with them instead of ride down!

Original Fal are the best and the Goliath is the best ever IMO. They are like gold dust to find though

I bought a premier equine 450 grams two winters ago, it is amazing, it's also really tough as my horse can destroy rugs very easily normally but this is fantastic and deep so it doesn't look like he is wearing a miniskirt :). I only wish I had bought the one where you can add and takeaway layers and then I would have only needed the one rug for the whole year.

I personally don't like Mark Todd for a few reasons, but the extra gullet meant the horses mane rubbed off as a looser fit round the neck was better for my horse (s) each to their own

Much as I love the Fal, I am sticking with premier equine. The grass liveries really put them through their paces and they stay the course. Also nice and deep!

I have been really pleased with Shires Typhoon and Shires Stormcheeta rugs and they were a nice fit on my big shouldered NH TB. I was one of the few that didn't get on with PE, but I love Horseware and Bucas rugs on my Arabs (both do big neck versions for chunky horses). Dominick rugs are fab, but nearly impossible to get hold of.

oh how odd! mines had one of for two winters and never rubbed anything out, infact winter is when it grows back because she rubs it out all summer with sweetitch!

Of course that's the difference! I was wondering why my horses newer rug looks all wrong when his head is down grazing!

I bought a Caldene Jupiter in the sale last summer and it is superb. Super tough and warm and has washed a treat. Ned virtually lived in it 24/7 last winter and still looks brand new
