The more the merrier imo, me and my horse look like glow worms

I ALWAYS go out in a flourecent exercise sheet no matter what the weather is like because it is so big I like to think it gives the drivers a bigger chance of seeing us from behind.
Also definatly some boots or leg wraps, I think it might make drivers slow down as it is a odd colour moving.

I got some great brushing boots from Tesco with lovely bright pink reflective straps on them - they are great and have double velcro - I haven't lost one yet!

A reflective strap around your hat is a great idea I think - and I would second the hi-viz exercise sheet.

As much as you can fit on your neddy really!! x

Both my two have their own set of leg wraps, nose band and tail wrap and I am now awaiting delivery of a new pink rockfish riders jacket. Is it sad that that I'm really excited about this??!! he he.

Leg wraps are supposed to be particularly good. Apparently a driver sees the movement of the horses legs sooner than the rest of the horse.

One thing that people forget is that a driver will not always see a rider's tabard from the front - particularly if their horse has a high head carriage - or even if trotting, when the horse carries his head higher than at walk - the horse's head and neck may obscure most if not all of the rider's tabard.

For that reason, I also have a high-viz breastplate, so that I can be seen better from the front also.

I also have an ex-police hi-viz top. This is light enough to wear over a T-shirt in summer and yet big/loose enough to go over a coat in winter/wet weather. As well as the yellow colour, it has lots of reflective bands around it also . It is lightweight and has sleeves, so even more of the rider can be seen. It cost me about £3 from Ebay and I prefer this to any of the "horse" tabards.

My daughter and I have the robinsons hi viz riding coats, very warm and water proof, plus maximum upper body coverage. A flourescent hat cover is great, can be seen above hedge lines. Also stuff for the horse in case you part company!

Tabbard is essential. Hi viz fleece/jacket/trousers are excellent as well as quarter sheet and headband. I have a couple of flashing tabbards for dull days. Basically as much as possible! I even wear a tabbard just to walk up our quiet farm lane where there is no traffic, but it makes it easier for the dogwalkers to spot me from a distance

I bought a high viz lightweight waterproof jacket from ALdi for 5.00 and it has been brilliant...in winter I wear a workman/builder style yellow high viz one and it stands out like a beacon. The leg wraps for horses are ggod as they are continually moving so are more noticable.

I've got lots of hi-vis bits and pieces and wear a tabard etc. in summer but the most visible things I've got for winter are a yellow fisherman's jacket with silver fluorescent strips on it and a hat cover with yellow triangles. I got the jacket for about £15 in a fishing chandler's shop, great value.

I always wear long sleeved Hi-Viz so that motorsists can see my hand signals, a Hi-Viz crash hat band, reign covers and nose band.

I also avoid riding out when there is bright low sun-shine which may blind motorists.

Anything PINK.. I personally am not a fan of pink, but when seeing my friends out hacking, the pink stands out way more than the yellow. I have tabard, horse breast plate, noseband, band on my hat and leg boots. And in winter a bright yellow exercise sheet..

Be seen, be safe I say

I do this too, as the little lane I walk my ned up sometimes to cool off is a BOAT, so I want the offroading motorbikes to see me AND my ned in good time.... especially useful in the wooded bits...

I got some legacy brishing boots, they have flurescent yellow strike pads and straps and are double velco.

They're the most flurescent boots I've seen and seem to work really well, nice good brushing boots to.

Ditto Legacy brushing boots they are almost luminous!! and I love my Luna rider jacket (from Rideaway) actually looks quite flattering for a yellow jacket!! Keep getting comments on how bright it is!

Hi- Viz leg bands all round, Hi-Viz tabard with flashing red lights, Hi-Viz gloves, and arm bands (if not wearing Hi-Viz fleece jacket) and arm band round my outside leg. Also have a Hi-Viz smily face on a bum-bag thingy attached to the saddle. Have a Hi-Viz exercise sheet, but don't use it often because of sweaty horse.

Re the legacy brushing boots. IS size 1 small with size 4 being the largest? It doesn't clarify on the website and I need big ones! Thanks
