Wasting my time successfully....
We've a lovely 11.2hh pony on loan. To our knowledge she has always been barefoot, certainly for the last 8 years (she's 19).
On last trim the yard farrier (long story) trimmed her too short IMO, and he took quite a bit of frog off. I wasn't there when he visited (not a mistake I'll make again). She is fine in the arena and on grass but is struggling a bit on stony ground.
I will change farrier - might even swap to a barefoot trimmer - but in the meantime I think I am gonig to try hoof boots and pads to make things more comfotable for her out hacking. At least while she grows back!
I've never used hoof boots before - have only had barefoot pony & horse that hever needed them - would welcome suggestions as those likely to be most comfortable on smallish pony feet. Though she is small her feet are fairly round.
Thank you.
