My mare needs front hoof boots for hacking I think, she's pretty much ok apart from a stoney track which we unfortunately have to use for most of our more interesting hacks. She's been barefoot 12 months or so and has great feet, but just needs the extra protection.

Her feet are measuring 130mm wide by about the same long.

I love the look of the easyboot gloves, does anyone use these? I don't want an all singing all dancing set that are really complicated to do up, but are these simple looking ones as good at staying on?

Any experiences welcome! Thanks :)

I use gloves and yes I find them good at staying on. However they do have to fit so I would suggest you hire a fit kit first to get the correct size (very cheap to hire) and also look at the fitting video on the easycare site so you know what to look for with the fit kit. Provided you can get a good fit then you just put them on, give them a tap on the toe with a mallet and fasten the gaiter.

That's great, thanks paddy :)

Where did you get yours from? I have only found one place that stocks the wide fit, just wondering if there are any others that people would recommend.

Thanks :)

My mare had round feet, as in as wide as long. Cavallo Simples worked well for her (not the Sport; they are for longer feet and quite frankly the velcro fastening is rubbish).

Another vote for glove wides, they are excellent. Get mine from equine podiatry supplies. If you need advise, they are excellent and the service is very good.

Justine at equine podiatry supplies should be able to get wides, similarly hoof boutique and the saddlery shop certainly can.

Do you need wides? Mine needed wides in theory and it seemed a shorter length would allow him to break over more easily. When I put them (2W's ) on he moved badly in them. I then put on 3's in an ordinary width which should have had a ridiculously long breakover and he moved perfectly.

My haflinger is 140 x 140 in front and fits 3.5 or 4 in ordinary fitting. His hinds are 130w and 135long and fit size 3 (ordinary)

Thanks everyone :) I have actually had a look at the Cavallo Simples and ordered a pair to try. On looking at the measurement tables I think they will fit her better - but if not I will be trying the Glove Wides :)

We've got one here with simlar sized feet, and she is in Equine Fusion Ultimates. I thinkthey are the best boots I've seen - they fit beautifully, and aren't bulky or fiddly. V impressed!

Just to update everyone - the Cavallo Simples are fab. They fit her brilliantly and are super easy to put on!

I walked her out in hand yesterday so that she could get used to them, I wasn't sure if she would be a bit clumsy in them. She wasn't at all, and she walked out beautifully and trotted really well. Think she found them comfy!

Interestingly her feet seem to be landing better as well. Not sure if that's because she's more comfy or if she has to sort of "flick" her feet so she doesn't trip. Either way, she is much happier with them on, so I'll keep doing short walks for a bit to break them in and see how we go from there :)
