Have gone barefoot with my spotty horse since he mostly does dressage anyway in a school. But want to take him hacking but he has quite sensitive feet and our drive is pretty stony, plus dont want to wear his feet too far down on the roads.
He has quite low heels. So what is the best type of hoof boots on the market?

Can of worms I am afraid, it depends on the horses hoof shape and a variety of different factors. However a lot of hoof boot companies will state what shape best suits their product.

For example mine wears Easy boot Grips on the front and when he wore them Boa boots on the back.

From personal experience the Boa boots were more difficult to put on and more inclined to rub. The easy boots have been great (partic as my buddy is two different sizes and I didn't have to buy a pair!). Easy boot gloves have good reviews and you can get a fit kit to make sure you get the best size.

I would decide on your horses shape and size and have a good google :)

We have had great success with Cavello Easy Boots.

All leather, hard wearing, really easy to get on and off, and great traction even on our very hilly tarmac roads.

They were also the cheapest I found at only 78 pounds for a pair of boots including pads and gaiters. Forget the gaiters though and invest in a cheap multi pack of mens socks that fit right over the hoof....no rubbing at all and easy to clean.

Agree with batgirl - depends on the horses hoof shape and a variety of different factors.

I've tried gloves and old mac g2's. Old macs were my first ever boots and found them to be clumpy and my mare didnt like to jump/canter in them. But saying that the old macs have never fallen off and i still revert back to them when needed. She used to wear those front and back.
I bought a pair of gloves because they were neater but i find they have to be the exact size for them to be a good boot, i bought front and backs but now only wear those on the front because the backs have fallen off a few times because i dont think they suit her hoof shape.
Renegades i love the look of though!!!!

I have a pair of brand new cavallo hoof boots sat doing nothing, they are size 3, Just thaught id mention it as it will be cheaper than buying from a shop if you want to buy them!

I have Boas and they are really nice and easy to use and tighten. Hubby is a farrier and he says everyne raves about Cavallo as they are cheap and good.
