My two old mares live out and their hooves are currently soft and shot to pieces from the wet boggy conditions and multiple abscesses which have suffered farrier excavations. They also have missing bar connections for the same reasons. They are barefoot and up to now have had fantastic hooves, it's very depressing how they have deteriorated this winter, with no grass growth on the horizon in their poached fields.

I am looking to supplement but it's been a while since I gave a specific hoof supplement so don't know what's best for value and effectiveness.

I would consider a supplement or a fortified feed, although they definitely don't need fattening up. What do people find works really well?

I've used equimins biotin but I'm sure others will back me up that there's more to it than just biotin - may be a good starting point though.

a good no iron broad spectrum vit/min supplement is the best option (and some micronised linseed)

So. Equimins adv complete (lower in mag than others), pro hoof from progressive earth, forageplus, equivita.
