I can remember a story in either Pony or H+P where the pony was called Nigel, did make me smile :D

my horse is Barney, think its a silly name but he couldn't be anything else.

old yard had two Macs at one point, despite trying to change their names they were Mac 1 and Mac 2. Mac 1 retired and Mac 2 is still known as Mac 2, the name has just stuck.

Also remember there was a racehorse a few years back named Simon, ran the Grand National one year!

Tiny for a big 17.2.
Crusty.....
Eric
Sally

And I genuinely love this name- Dudley!
I, too am the besotted owner of an Eric! Also knew a Brenda (cob mare , backside of a cook!!!) One of my favourites was Twinkletoes - 18.2hh chestnut result of an accidental mating between a clydesdale mare and a TB stallion. Fabhorse though.

Human names are the best haha! Clive is great.

The funniest bit was that Clive was a very smart sprint bred tb who I found unbroken in a field at 6. He was a legend, did some very serious showing under his proper name 'Aramstone' and then was sold to go hunting with the Radnors. He was a comedian of the highest order and was forever in some sort of muddle!

Most of mine have normal names. I have a Jeff aka The Hocamaffe (real name Jefertiti!) Max, Lance, Pippa, Lucy and Gerry. And then you get Gray (no prizes for guessing his colour!) Ranger, Charm, Flint, Rains, RQ's (pronounced Arcs) SOS, Firefly, Bells and Freebie.

We have had some good names on the yard - Lobster for a horse who was called Namedatdinner. Guinnes - Itstimeforapint. Lego - Legbeforewicket.

The list goes on! These days we get that many horses in and out they usually end up as part of their racing name.

I agree, I used to ride at a riding school and a lady there owned 2 mares one called Emma and the other called Lisa!!

On the same row there was a Willy, Spartacus and a Berkley and just across a pony called Shane!!

Human names are the best though, not always in some cases but still funny.

I have an exracer with the stable name of Vernon. I hated it to start with but has really grown on me :D (Never met another horse called Vernon - so it is unique!)

We get all sorts come through the riding school because they all have to have different names so the clients don't get confused

Mine is called Albert. He was called Prince Albert but that's a genital piercing :D

I also know:
Seaweed
Sweaty
Ryan
Craig
Boris
Gemma
Jemma (both on the same yard)
Farmer
Geoff
Haka
Madonna
Lorna
BB (short for Big Bird)
Shayne
Mr Postlethwaite!
Banana Hammock.

I also know a horse called Greg. He came with the name Dick, but because he's a riding school horse his name had to change..."you're on Dick today", "you ride Dick really well" etc. So now he's called Greg.
