Best horse respiratory supplements?

Hi, I’m hoping to find out what the best horse respiratory supplement are for an eventer who coughs once or twice when beginning exercise. Is it worth putting him on a supplement to help his breathing? Thank you!
 
Yes it is, and the only one I’ve used that works is NAF liquid respirator. Please also think about bedding-switch to low dust like Bedmax shavings or cardboard, make sure hay is damp before being fed or switch to haylage, and stable well away from dusty hay barns or straw. Sounds like overkill, but I lost my horse of a lifetime to severe lung issues so I always tell people to take fairly drastic action as soon as any coughing starts so they can try and minimise any damage at an early stage.
 
Seconded for NAF Boost. It was very effective for 2 horses that had severe virus after effects and is now being used on a mare that had pollen related problems through harvest and needed dilatorol. Now on Boost and in fine form.
 
Has the horse been seen by a vet?

Is the cough new and/or how long has it been happening for?

I would want to know why the horse was coughing and to get to the root cause; be it a virus, allergy or asthma.

Once that is established a supplement may be the solution or the horse may need something prescribed along with a change to management.
 
Having used Equine America Airways which was OK I switched my pony to the Science Supplements RespirAid on the recommendation of several people on here. My pony only has pollen issues in spring and I was pleasantly surprised the RespirAid worked within 10 days and I can’t remember the last time I heard him cough.

Yes he’s had it ever since I got him two years ago. He only coughs just once or twice when I go into the trot. I asked the vet about it and they checked his lungs and suggest that it’s most likely him clearing his lungs before exercises as it is just a single cough and not a prolonged fit. Other than that he doesn’t cough at any other times.
 
Respirator boost. Worked amazingly for my horse. He had a moderate to bad dust allergy. The difference was very noticeable if I stopped using it.
He’s now on Audvard Balsamic Air as prescribed (but isn’t POM) by my vet.

My gelding is on Balsamic Air too, previous I've used Respirator boost and used Airways recently when he refused to eat with the Balsamic Air in his feed. Of the three, Balsamic Air is definitely what works best for him.
