My broodmare moves some makes of rug over to one side, her mother did the same, no idea why. So a Shires 180g is worn at a very jaunty angle, I bought her an Amigo Mio which is so flimsy that it doesn't stay in place 5 minutes, serves me right for being a cheapskate. Her tummy doesn't help I know but she is the same whether in foal or not.

Her mother was good in a FAL, but the 40g aren't warm enough and while the 200g is lovely and warm, on days such as this (sun out shock horror) far and away too warm.

I have a mare here in a PE but while it doesn't seem to move is so heavy to pick up even though it's not a heavy tog, so I don't want one of them for her. I have PE40g ones and they are great but obv. not warm enough.

So. Are the heavier denier H'Ware likely to stay in place better than the 600 denier, or doesn't it make any difference? I don't want more than 200g of fill. Any suggestions on any other brands would be welcomed, thanks.

Rambo supremes come in a MW/200gm. They are an excellent cut and I've never had one move a jot.

Alternatively you can also get a rambo original, with leg arches, which come in 0g,/100gm/200gm and they are also superb. (if you want a a neck cover you have to buy them separate, whereas they are incl in the supreme)

I never buy anything but Rambos now. All of mine wear them 24/7 and they stay perfectly put.

The only rugs i have found that do not move are the horseware ones.

My youngster had an amigo which was grand... not much use to you though!

They all have rambos on and none move about. They also have rhino mediums, which are perfect too.

Worth noting that rhino and amigo are more cut for ponies, so this may be why they move about on your mare?

Cannot reccomend rambo highly enough. two have supremes, the youngster wont get one of them until she stops growing, and is living in cast offs for now (all be it rambo!)

Its Rambo for me, I have the originals with leg arches worn 24/7, I go up a size for the cobs, and I have option to add liners in. Very tough and they have stayed dry all winter, and they remain lightweight even when absolutely covered in mud. :D

Mine has an Amigo Bravo that is fab and does not move at all. I would have thought though that the type of lining has a big impact on if it moves or not. Have you tried putting a 'sticky' under-rug under the ones that move? Maybe a waffle type rug or fleece?

We use the 1200 denier amigos and have no problem with them at all.
Have them in various weights.
Everything else moves on my very round barrelled mares even the rambos
