I normally insure through NFU. Am waiting for them to ring me back re: a quote. However, I am prepared for a huge hike in my normal premium so was wondering what other companies are reasonable.

Horse I am insuring is a 13 yr old, 15hh hunter. I don't need any fancy insurance - just vets fees and Loss of Horse.

I use South Essex Insurance Brokers and have found them excellent.

I think it's wise not just to consider the premiums, but get personal recommendations as to how good whatever company you choose is at paying out when you need it. In the csae of SEIB - so far excellent.

I sent in a claim to KBIS last week for £715. It was for staples to a laceration to my horses front leg from a kick, which then got infected and to cut a long story short he then ended up having xrays and IV antibiotics etc etc. Came back from the yard today and I have confirmation from them that they have sent the payment to my vets! I posted the claim form at the beginning of last week and they have processed it and paid up already. Its my first claim with them and I have to say I am very impressed.:)

Have a search for NFU on here - a few interesting threads, recently. You may be waiting a while for them to call back...

Mine have all been with Equine Insurance Solutions - fab company.
