Just getting prepared to possibly buy Ariat Volant boots but as they're about £400 I'd like them somewhat cheaper! Anyone know where online will be offering good Jan sales where I might get them at a bargain price?

Equestrian clearance were doing them for £200 they are the front zip version with red piping. I have both the Bromonts and the front zip volants. I must say I love my volants and wear them everyday so comfy. A tip I was given when buying ariats is go down a half foot size. Which I always have and they fit fab.

Best boots ever. So comfortable and feel fantastic in the stirrup. Thin enough sole as to not lose feel and just the right amount of grip. Normally when I get sand on the soles of boots they slip in the stirrups, but not these. They also have a nice grip and feel on the saddle flap. Can't recommend them highly enough. I bought the short boots and chaps too.

Thank you so much for the link! I have the plain black ones and they are the best boots I've ever owned, they look a bit tatty now though after 4 years of almost constant wear and I'd love the front red zip ones. OH hasn't bought me a Christmas gift yet.....

Love my volants, they are so comfortable and fit my leg perfectly whereas the bromonts were too baggy at the ankle

I don't really need another pair as these seem very hard wearing but I'd be very tempted for £150, what a bargain

bought some from Equestrian C when they were £199 and although the red did stain my jods they are the BEST hacking/allround boots I have ever owned...light and comfortable and a great fit on the leg.....love them and would buy them again but better with black or dark jods or socks!

Argh I don't need new boots but also temped - can't resist a bargain! But, ariat bromants are too tall for me! Grassmeres are fine. Does anyone know how the length compares to bromonts please?

Oops... I seem to have bought a pair! My current ones got very loose round the calf so bought the size down.

Very poor now but really chuffed! :)

I bought the slim leg ones and they were very tight to begin with. I could feel my pulse bounding in my calf. They are still snug, but just how I like them now.

The volants come in short fitting as well as medium and tall.

They've arrived and they are booootiful :)

And what's more, they fit!

Size-wise for those asking I went for the regular height and they are just a touch too tall, but when they 'relax' they should be perfect. I wouldn't say I have a short leg at all, so they are quite generous with the height

Oh no Wagtail..... I always worry about bounding pulses!
Will it mean that you can't have mincepies with sugar on?

Really great boots.. I'm soooo tempted!

Another very tempted person!

Do they cope ok with mud? I like riding round the fields but have to walk through deep mud at the gateways - will this ruin them?

(I've got some Kinpurnie boots at the mo and their zip is right down the back to the heel, so I get wet tootsies when walking through the mud).

I have never tried. I would think that they would be ruined though. They are not all leather. They have a kind of textured fabric as well. I wouldn't like to put them through mud. I would go for the Ariat Bromonts if I wanted to go through mud as they have a waterproof version. I notice that equestrian.com have the bromont dress boots for £139 at the moment too!

I do have short legs and i really want a pair but ec don't have 'short' in my size and with a baby due im too broke to go elsewhere. :( from measuring I'd need heel lifters even in short ones lol I'm 5'3. My bromonts are ok though - anyone with both able to measure and compare them?

Just about to buy a pair but before I do... These aren't BD legal, are they? Anyone know for sure? I've read the rule book and it sounds like they wouldn't be as not all black. Just wondering whether the plain black Bromonts are a more sensible choice...

Little ginger I hadn't thought of that. i know the tretorn black with silver piping ones weren't bd legal. At the time i had them my physio had recommended them as I could barely walk and they offered the correct structure apparently, but bd we're clear when asked, medical or not they weren't plain black.

I feel better about having short legs now, saved me buying them and being unable to use them for 1 of my 2 horses at parties!
