My mums dog is 12 this year and he is starting to show the beginnings of having a touch of arthritis/general stiffness, especially at night or after longer walks. The problem is that he's still made keen to run about like a loony, only nobody told him he isnt a puppy any more!
We discussed the option of meds with the vet who said they didnt feel he warranted anything yet, and wanted to wait a little before starting him on something.
So, my question is- what supplements for stiffness/arthritis have you used/ do you rate? Have been looking online but theres just so many!!
Was thinking about trying the cortaflex liquid for dogs?
Ideas/suggestions?

My only worry with the equimins product would be whether or not we could get Basil to eat it- he's very suspicious about meds but you can slip a tablet into a bit of something tasty and fool him, you can also manage with liquids if they have a fishy taste/smell (which might rule out the cortaflex if it doesnt?) but I'm not sure how we would get a powder into him....

Used to really rate one by NAF called Relief...but it seems that they're discontinuing it. So I put my old girl on Vetrophen, she had to have it camoflagued as it must have been vile tasting (not a normally fussy eater). Seemed to work...but she wasn't on it very long before I lost her anyway.

Hmmm, I have a dalmatian so don't have that problem although she has been known to fish tablets out of food and leave them in the bowl. It is a powder so you can introduce it really slowly. I've just tasted it and its not too unpleasant (less so than the Cortaflex) but obviously you'd have to try Basil to see if he'd eat it. I find that if you mix it right into tinned food it is hardly noticeable but as I say my dalmatian will eat practically anything.
