My friend's TB is 19 now but still going strong, ridden regularly and still jumps up to 3'

He does occasionally suffer with his joints though, due to an old injury. Just wondering what is the best supplement anyone has found.

He's on 16+ so probably needs a joint supplement rather than a vit supplement. Needs an allround MSM/Glucosamine that doesn't cost the earth?

Thanks x

Lance is also coming up 19, I put him on the Equine America 10,000 glucosamine plus msm, the £13.99 one, however Ive heard since that even EQ admit it doesnt work!

Ive been feeding it for 2 months and seen no improvment, im thinking just putting him on TopSpec Senior.

NAF Superflex is brilliant stuff. It solved one of my horses cold back (dont ask how!) and my 2 veteran ponies are so much more supple than before. Plus, its very palatable - even my picky eater wolfs it down.

H i there, I feed mine a combination of Newmarket Joint supplement, which is pure Glucosamine, and NAF Devil's Relief Plus, which has MSM as well as Devil's Claw in it, and he is moving much more freely now than when I got him.

He's only 13, but he's been a racehorse all his life (still is), so has a fair bit of wear and tear.
However, I don't know for sure if it's the supplements that have helped him, or the fact that I have completely changed the way he is managed compared to his old owner.

Although Newmarket Joint supp is one of the more expensive ones, I've found it to work the best on my 26 yr old ex jumping pony, she is never stiff on it. Has also worked well on my other horse(in conjunction with medicating the joint) who has had joint prob. I have found that it is more concentrated so you need less of it- I have 2 x 1.5 kilo tubs- one has been in use since Feb and opened the other one in June and I reckon I will need more at the beginning of the new year, so in the long run it has probably worked out cheaper for me. Out of the cheaper ones I have used in the past, I found the Gold Label one to be fairly good, and it was only 17.95 a pot.

Grand Meadows Grand Flex is buy far the best product I've used. I've used Cortaflex, Cortaflex HA, Riaflex, Newmarket Joint Supplement, NAF Superflex and countless others on a 26yr old ex-eventer with ringbone, sidebone, arthritis and bone spurs and Grand Meadows Grand Flex is the only one that has actually improved her without masking the pain with a ton of MSM. It works out much cheaper than all of the others too which is a bonus. www.horsespecialities.co.uk

Feedmark's ExtraFlex HA. Ella is a heavy horse, diagnosed with arthritis of the coffin joint. She has been on this supplement for 6 months and the difference is really noticeable.

ChewbaccaTheWookie - How is Grand Flex much cheaper? Just had a quick look and a 60 day supply of GF is £44.95 whereas the Superflex (price taken of Derby House) 60 days is £34.95? Thanks, just wondering

My 19yr old tb ex-racehorse mare has been on Newmarket Joint Supplement since she had her hocks injected a few years ago. Prior to this she was on MSM which didnt really help her after a while.
Newmarket Joint Supplement was recommended by my vet at the time and also by equine hospital.
It lasts for ages, has always helped my mare...but really it would be down to the individual needs of each horse.

Cairo has MSM from Equine America and I have also found feeding him linseed has helped his joints a lot in terms of stiffness.

He also wears magnet straps all the time - for him they do something benefical - without them he goes lame in front due to low ringbone.
