Posted a while ago about our young ridgeback that was constantly limping, after numerous vet trips and experiments with anti inflams etc, she had an xray and vet found nodules in her shoulder so concluded it was early arthritis.

She is in light work, with natural food (ie pure beef/chicken/lamb) straight from the pet shop. Shes an ideal weight, so not putting any extra weight on the shoulder. She is on glucosamine tablets called seraquin, is there anything else we can supplement?

Friend suggested jointaid? We are very hesitant to operate on her as she is only 3yrs and is still very happy in herself. She isnt limited as to what she can do, but if she has had a hoon around the garden then in the evening she will be limping.

Thanks :)

I used NAF superflex on my old collie when she was about 13. At first I didn't think it was doing anything until we stopped using it and within 2 days she was crippled so put her back on it and she went on bounding and running about until she was 16.

Cannot recommend joint aid highly enough - the difference in our almost 13yr old lab is quite amazing - thinks and acts like a 2 year old :)

Have recommended to a number of friends and all have been impressed with results.

I would also suggest hydrotherapy (after speaking to vet of course) - our lab had leg injury a few years ago and it made a huge difference - may well help with arthritis too.....

There's a guide on the back of the bottle which is based on the dogs weight. I gave mine 25mls once a day. Wasn't much of a believer is supplements until I saw how much of a difference it made. And it worked for a friends old spaniel

The best thing you can do for your dog is give him Adequan. A PITA to give for the full course of treatment as you have to learn how to inject them, but once you do, its worth it.

It was the only thing that helped my last dog, who had both bone cancer and arthritis.
