We've a year old young horse with leg problems (is under the vet) and would like to start him on some sort of joint supplement early on. Something to help keep his joints moving smoothly.

Can anyone recomend anything? We've considered Blue Chip Dynamic but it's very expensive and we are already using a balancer. Looked at Equilibra Joint Aid Plus, but also VERY expensive in the long term.

On this web page there are lots of joint aiding products but we've no experience of any of them:

Manufacturers

We wouldn't mind spending the money, it's just not knowing which products are worth it and which aren't.

Hi, I would definitely recommend Synequin. It's the only one my vet/equine physio would recommend and the difference it made to my veteran was incredible. It does cost a lot but a pot lasts for ages and at least I know I'm spending my money on something that works. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Riaflex Complete has very high spec of glucosamine, msm and chrondroitin(sp?). It worked very well for my old boy and he felt too good on it....

Ive currently got my veteran on Global Herbs Movefree Plus, and i am seeing really good results with it. He's got quite a repertoire of problems including; Non articular ringbone, sidebone, DJD and last year had laminitis which resulted in him foundering in his near fore. He is retired and prior to being given this product was paddock sound but often tripped and looked a bit stiff. Since feeding Benji this supplement he has improved massively, he practically drags me out to the field at a trot and has such cadence in his paces and the length of his stride has improved immensely. I am a massive fan of the Global Herbs supplements after having found great results with the Butex supplement they make. I hope this has been of some help to you! I hope your youngster makes a speedy and full recovery too!

Both my heavy horses have arthritis, they have been on Feedmark's ExtraFlex HA for 18 months now and the difference is amazing. Feedmark do some good offers too - think they have a buy 2 get 3rd free at the moment.

We found a huge difference in the stallion aged 17 when he started on Multiplex HA. It's made by Science with Nature and is one of the cheaper options.
I don't think any of them work long term though, and have started changing every two tubs to a different one, and the benefit seems to return again.
